Improper water in boston

1. This just in from Improper Bostonian…everything flashy, fancy, and bouncy…in this issue (the Man issue), the man is dissected, piece by piece.
“anyone who knows me would say I might be the least metrosexual person alive. I think it was based on one thing: I said that I like to get massages, and that was enough.”
Hmmmmmmmmmm….well I guess I’m a real metrosexual being then..i love massages too!
Page 22, ..what is a “Purple nurple”..never heard of it?………
“Plus, chicks dig a guy who can throw a football real good…”
I wonder how (how now brown cow) my football tossing skills are…now Frisbee, that’s a different story!
“If a guy can’t pound a nail in a reasonable amount of time without knocking it sideways or crippling himself, he’s probably never tried to jam a turkey carcass down a garbage disposal, and he might shave his legs.”
Well…….I think I can pound a nail pretty well..but you’re batting 0-2…I’ve never done either.
…….fun with Dave’s insanity sauce….”I researched this online before we came over here. It can only kill you if it gets in your lungs.”
Good to know...is this in the testosterone edition of trivial pursuit?
“there was just no way I was going to drink that milk.” I think if someone had given in first, others would’ve followed suit, but everyone would rather suffer than be the first to succumb to the pain. How stupid. How macho. How manly.”
No comment……..
“Manliest drink..the award goes to guinness extra stout…”
hey…my manliness is coming back!
“I recommended a concoction invented by my disreputable friend frank called black death: a double shot of espresso poured into a pint of Guinness.”
I’ll have to try that!
Manliest woman: michelle yeoh….same person who is in Memoirs of a Geisha..
Well I want to see this movie..I’ve gotten to page 10 waiting in the checkout line at shaw’s.
Manliest man: sure, bond bedded women by the truckload. But is this really manly? It still entails touching, and touching is for sissies. Most importantly, an action character’s firearm defines him, and bond carried a walther PPK, a pistol with the sound of the word “pee-pee” in it. Not good. Conversely, dirty harry carried a .357 magnum.”
I guess the big gun wins.
“Upcoming issues: bachelor/ette; spring fashion preview; dating; shopping”
I’ll keep my eyes peeled……….

2. mmmm..water in all it's glory....well..I wonder if it's actually all the same...but it's all good in a hot yoga studio.

3. On the other end of the spectrum...beer is now being prescribed for sick people...what are 'sick' people?

the Burrito's burning africa

1. So, I’m off to Africa (Zimbabwe) for a few weeks to a project called Kufunda…to try something new (I’ve done yoga trainings the last three years), experience a different culture, and to scout for what I might want to do after YMCA (I’m thinking peacecorps). From what I’ve read so far about Zimbabwe and who else will be on the “learning journey,” it sounds like it will be an exciting trip. This is also the first time I’ve traveled abroad by myself (the last three trips to finland have been with my mom).
It's interesting the comments/advice I get when I tell people I'm going to africa...here's some of what I've heard: bring those towelette hand wipes things, you will be "fresh meat" to the locals, talk to people--they are interesting and you may get to have a buddy for your 14 hour layover, do not be indecisive outside--go inside to make decisions, walk like you know where your going, even if you don't, the money belt is key.

2. I’ve had a few phrases going through my head. Here they are and what they mean to me right now: “burn”—I must experience the pain/loss/failure before I can fly. “you must fly”—this means that I( and we) all have a passion. It is SO important that we find it and use it in this world…for many reasons.

3. Well hello to you to mr. Seven layer burrito. People say “taco hell,” but I like it, every now and then…not all the time! And getting two-for-one with entertainment coupon is a good thing!

Africa knows Menthol..

So I'm headed to Africa--Zimbabwe actually--to visit a village meet some cool people...oh but should I be scared;) whatever happens, it should be an adventure!..just what I like..
This just in
"The US State Department says it's better to stay at home, and issued a Travel Warning that it recently updated. The Brits, however, seem to be less prone to hysteria or maybe just better informed. Although admitting violence is on the rise, the UK Foreign Office says it is relatively safe to visit the tourist areas and to just hold on to your wallet a little tighter in the bigger cities. Personally, I'd still go, but probably choose the tour as opposed to travelling independently. I would avoid going this spring however, since elections are due to be held on 31st of March and it could get ugly."

2. I just realized I bought two different products that both have menthol in them: Carmex (0.7% menthol), and IceHot (10%). Yea for iceHot goo when my shoulder hurts during swim team!

3. The poem monster strikes again..this time on the refrigerator...ode to the fish goddess...and milk!

So what is happening in Davis square tonight?
People voice their opinions.

Would you like some coffee with your buddha and yoga?

smashing senses....see; hear, feel

A sense blast from last night:
I SAW splintered glass in a subway car...here is the inspired poem:
Splintered glass,
The kind that cracks
A pattern so beautiful,
But does not break.
The subway’s passing lights,
Cause the clockwise reflections.
Slowing, a spider emerges.

I HEARD some people talking about the snow storm:
“…is there protocol for networking? Like a phone tree or something? The web site was useless…”

I FELT grounded by the superBurrito I had last night…yummy. And light headed by the piano music I heard.

Hmmm…inspiration, good food, good music, and a chilly walk!

The cancer in my milk when snow hiking

1. I hear there's a foot of snow on the way for boston..yeah! now the real winter begins. Today is cold and grey:(

2. I love the young AMC group...here is a view from the top of..well I forgot the name of the mountain, but it's in the White Mountains! The view was AWESOME. Perfect weather.

3. Yea!...10 reasons why I should not drink milk (even though I buy milk by the two gallons). I like my milk--currently with a little chocolate soy milk--yummy! This is from the Integrative Nutrition catalog. Heart attacks, strokes, and high blood pressure; cancer; diabetes, autism, schizophrenia; antibiotic residues; pesticide residues; hormone residues; osteoporosis (I thought milk made strong bones!); leukemia viruses; chronic health conditions; digestive problems, candida overgrowth. If you want to see more reasons why no milk--www.notmilk.com.

hello cold weather's smokey biker

1. The cold weather is getting to me!...No ultimate frisbee means I don't get to run as much during the week. Getting home at midnight also means that I don't go running on the track, but I think I just got a bike riding partner, so that's "cool." ..pun intended;)

2. Why do bike couriers smoke? Another example of two opposites in my mind: smoking will kill your lungs, and biking will make them stronger.

3. I recently went to a Krishna Das (you can call him KD) concert and workshop. KD is a very interesting person. I pulled this from his web site:
"Chanting with Krishna Das consists of: Chanting with musical accompaniment, Meditation instruction, Readings from different spiritual traditions, Teachings and discussions about the spiritual path."

WOW...I took lots of notes, the music was cool, and I wrote this poem:
Just Be in the Sound

Nothing to do.
Nothing to say.
Just feel.
Feel the vibration.
A million years old.
Find your connection,
And you will build
Something greater than yourself.
As we’re all one,
Just be in the sound.

Sun mag goes Fishing

One of my goals this year is to try a few new recipes...specifically fish. This is a recipe for
steamed fish (I used Grey Sole) and veggies. I added the couscous...I thought it was yummy for a first attempt!

The Sun Magazine discussion continues! We are meeting monthly (sunday) to talk about articles, and read stories if anyone writes

them...the focus is more on

discussion though...

Go the web site and email me if you want to be added to

the list.
